Dear Friends and Supporters,

Christ Health Care Ministry was founded to address the unmet physical and spiritual needs of low-income residents.  We currently support two clinics: one in Ferndale (Sullivan), the other in Gouverneur (St. Lawrence). God willing, we will soon support a third, in Warwick (Orange).

There are a significant number of low-income residents, in all these counties, who are in poor health. In fact, Sullivan County is ranked 61st out of New York’s 62 counties in terms of aggregate health status.

The factors contributing to this condition are lack of affordable health insurance, a shortage and mal-distribution of primary care providers, low educational attainment, health illiteracy, language barriers and transportation limitations. Depression and other mental health conditions also lead to social isolation and hopelessness. The focus of Christ Health Care Ministry, thus, is to help those with physical and spiritual needs who are uninsured and with insufficient financial resources.

The clinics Christ Health Care Ministry supports do not charge for any of their services. Nor do these clinics participate in government or insurer reimbursement programs. The medical professionals do not charge any fees for their services. Consequently, these clinics are completely volunteer-run and are financially dependent on contributions to pay for the operating expenses, including commonly used medications that are provided at no cost to the patients.

Christ Health Care Ministry fosters and supports a holistic view of care – the rendering of attention to physical health care needs as well as spiritual needs. Jesus said he was “anointed to proclaim good news to the poor.” (Luke 4:18) and that He “came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10). Jesus then tells us to “Go therefore and make disciples” (Matthew 28:19).  We seek to follow His example; of the ministry He had, while on this earth.

God has blessed us with doctors, nurses, counselors and other volunteers to help those who have physical and spiritual needs. As we seek to continue this work and seek to support a third clinic, we need your help. Would you prayerfully consider a year-end, or an ongoing, contribution to this ministry?
